Warrnambool Little Athletics Club ready to take on LAVIC State Relay Championships

Warrnambool Little Athletics Club is gearing up to take on the state at the 2017 state relay championships at Albert Park in Melbourne this weekend.WLAC has eight teams travelling to Melbourne to compete across 12 events.

The under 10 boys teams will compete in three events (4x100m, 4x200m and medley), while the under 11 boys will compete in two (4x100m and 4x200m) and the under nines in one (4x100m).

For the girls the under 10s are in one event (4x100m), while the under 11s and 13s are in two events (under 11 4x100 and 4x200m, under 13 4x200m and medley).

“The kids are really excited to be competiting at Albert Park,” WLAC team manager Jacinta Roache said.

“For most of the kids, especially our under nines, this is their first time competing at Lakeside and it will be a big day for them.

“I’m sure they will really relish the opportunity to run on Albert Park.”

Roache believes this is a big opportunity for all the athletes.

“The state relays gives athletes from the country a chance to test themselves against the bigger metropolitan clubs,” she said.

“They don’t get many opportunities to run against the metro clubs, so this will be a good learning experience.”
