Bargara Little Athletics has started back after the season was suspended in March due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The Little Athletics Queensland State Championships were all set up to start on March 13-15 in Brisbane when the Prime Minister’s announcement came through.The event was called off with athletes waiting in the stadium and others on their way to Brisbane.It was very sad for our team of 15 athletes who had qualified and been training for this major event on our Little Athletics calendar.We were due to start our 2020 season with a Come N Try day in March. We also missed several big planned fundraisers, but are thankful for our regular sponsors who have continued to support us through difficult times.It has been a long wait, but finally under stage three of restrictions, we were able to recommence our season on Sunday, 12 July.
A big delay to our usual winter season, but we will run a shorter season and now go through until the end of October to give athletes the opportunity to get back to it.
We were very grateful to be successful in our application for a Queensland Government COVID Safe Active Clubs Kickstart Grant, which will assist with the costs associated with requirements such as signage, cleaning and hygiene.
Little Athletics is a sport that relies on parents and volunteers and our Bargara Club proudly promotes the Family, Fun, Fitness motto of Little Athletics Queensland
We are thankful to have many returning members and some new members who followed all procedures and protocols in order to get athletes back out on the track and field doing what they love best.

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
