Big goals await Gold Coast duo Havana Harris and Ruby Hughes

Gold Coast duo Havana Harris and Ruby Hughes have bigger goals ahead after dominant performances at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in Hobart.

Harris outlined her class with gold in the under-13 girls high jump, while fellow Gold Coast Little Athletics Centre member Hughes took out the 1500m in the same division.

Harris leapt to gold with an impressive 1.73m while Hughes clocked 4:48.80 to win.

Harris went on to add a silver to her collection in the 4x100m relay and Hughes a bronze in the 1000m sprint medley relay. They were only two of three Queensland athletes to claim gold.

More than 280 athletes were selected in the under-13 and 15 age groups.

“It’s fantastic to see young, talented athletes like Havana and Ruby represent their state on the national stage – clearly the future of athletics in Australia is very bright,” Coles Little Athletics CEO Martin Stillman said
