Coles grant funds new equipment for Cockburn Little Athletics
Cockburn Little Athletics Club juniors will be heading for new heights thanks to a $5000 grant.
The Munster-based centre is one of 200 around the country to receive the Coles grant, which was funded through the sale of community chiller bags.
Cockburn Little Athletics president Liz Sallur said the grant would make a big difference to the centre, providing them the funds needed to buy a much needed new piece of equipment.
“The Coles grant will have a huge impact on our centre,” she said.
“It will allow us to purchase a mat that is compliant with the new high jump specifications.
“The cost of purchasing and delivering a high jump mat to WA is quite significant and without the support of Coles we may not be able to offer high jump to our athletes beyond this season.”
Coles state general manager Pat Zanetti said the fundraiser had allowed them to hand out $800,000 worth of grants.
“The Cockburn Little Athletics Centre told us they would like to receive a grant for a high jump mat and we were delighted to help because we know this is an essential part of Little Athletics to support young budding athletes,” he said.
There are no upcoming events at this time.
