The Coles Little Athletics Australia Official of the Year for 2019 has been awarded to Peter Boden from Little Athletics ACT.
The Official of the Year Award, now it’s in second year, was introduced in 2018 to recognise and reward a Little Athletics Official who had gone above and beyond in the previous twelve months, is a respected member of the official’s fraternity and displayed a positive contribution to officiating.
With almost 20 years’ experience as an official, Peter has regularly officiated at a high level including being the Combined Events Referee at the 2019 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC) in Hobart as well as an official at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
Peter became involved in the sport when his daughter joined Weston Creek Little Athletics Centre in 2000 and since then has been on several Committees both locally and nationally and is the current Competition and Technical Director of Little Athletics ACT. Peter conducts a number of education and training sessions for the ACT which have been well received and ensures officials feel valued and respected at any event. Peter has also been appointed as the Officials Manager for the 2020 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships in Canberra.
Martin Stillman, CEO of Coles Little Athletics Australia said “Peter is a much deserved winner of the Official of the Year Award for 2019. We are extremely fortunate to have such committed and highly experienced officials at Coles Little Athletics Centres across the country. Peter’s dedication to not only Officiating at centre level, but all levels of the sport including at the recent 2019 ALAC, really stood out with a high quality field of nominations submitted to LAA for consideration for this years award”.
Peter will be awarded with flights and accommodation to accept his award at the Roll of Excellence in Perth on the 19th October, 2019.
