Statement regarding the One Athletics unification vote
Official Statement from Little Athletics Australia President – Sherrie Boulter.
Thank you to our member associations and broader athletics community for their engagement in the unification process. The vision of Little Athletics Australia (LAA) and Athletics Australia (AA) for a united national athletics body, Australian Athletics, has not been achieved at this point.
I wish to thank our member associations for their commitment to working through this process and respect their decision to not support the unification at this time.
The LAA board continue to support the broader principles of unification and look forward to working with AA and our member associations to bring our sport together in the future.
LAA will now look to rebuilding its team to focus on core deliverables for our sport and our members. We especially look forward to delivering an outstanding Australian Little Athletics Championship (ALAC) in Melbourne in April where we will see our multi class athletes competing as members of their respective state teams for the first time.
Finally, I would like to thank the LAA board and staff for their support over the past weeks and Kate Palmer, Gavin McDonald and all those involved in the One athletics project for their tireless work.
