Three new directors appointed to Coles Little Athletics Australia Board of Directors
Coles Little Athletics Australia announced the appointment of three new directors at their General Meeting held today in Hobart.
President Andrew Pryor announced that Jennifer Bryant, Teresa Finlayson and Steve Ryan have been elected by the state and territory members to join the board of Little Athletics Australia (LAA). “LAA is fortunate to have such respected industry and community leaders join the board at such an important time in our history. Each will bring an important and diverse mix of skills and experience to the deliberations of the board and set the strategic direction of the sport” Mr. Pryor said. “With returning board members Andrew Gosling, Simone Pearce, Colin Segota and Melanie Woodward, they will be charged with leading the sport through the next phase of our growth.”
LAA President Andrew Pryor welcomed the new directors and thanked the nominating state and territory members for the high calibre of the candidates put to the member vote. “With the LAA staff, the new-look board will work closely with our state and territory counterparts to build on the successes of the past and embrace the opportunities of the future” Mr. Pryor said. “This will include cooperation with Athletics Australia and its member associations, the ongoing refinement of our products to meet the demands of our customers, and the continued engagement of sponsors and stakeholders.”
Mr. Pryor thanked outgoing board members David Lemon, Craig Scott, Shane Wylie, Donna Smith, Brett Johnstone and Teresa Blackman, who have been instrumental in the transformation of Little Athletics while also presiding over their state and territory boards, and recent retired directors, who have contributed to the organisations’ evolution.
The election of the three new directors is the final step in the governance restructure of Coles Little Athletics Australia. The new format of the skills-based, independent board is the culmination of the vision of the state and territory presidents, and the retired executive of 2018. This change has also seen the transition of Little Athletics from an incorporated association to a company limited by guarantee, consistent with governance best practice for National Sporting Organisations throughout Australia.
