Vale Alan Triscott

Alan Triscott was instrumental in the development of Little Athletics in Victoria and around Australia. Along with Trevor Billingham, from 1964 Alan visited communities in places such as Bendigo, Traralgon, Sandringham, Coburg and Warrnambool in an attempt to establish Little Athletics Centres.

By 1966 the Interim Committee Alan and Trevor had established drafted a Constitution and Rules that laid the foundations for a state wide organisation and in 1967 the Victorian Little Athletics Association was born, allowing for further expansion of Little Athletics throughout the state.

At the same time, news of the success of Little Athletics spread nationally and Alan made many interstate trips to assist in the formation of Little Athletics around Australia. When the Australian Little Athletics Union was formed in 1972, Alan fittingly took a role on its executive as treasurer and secretary. Alan also ensured that resources were available to Centres as Little Athletics spread, authoring a 52 page manual on officiating at Little Athletics.

Trevor and Alan became the two main drivers of the sport; Trevor the “Ideas” man, Alan the “implementer”, who brought the ideas to life.

In recognition of his role in the formation of Little Athletics Alan was awarded Life Governorship of Victorian Little Athletics, Life Membership of Australian Little Athletics and inducted into the Little Athletics Australia Hall of Fame.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Alan’s wife Kate, family and friends.
